By Allex at 2010-03-18 04:47:37
Experience the exhilaration and thrill as you get to watch the indescribable San Fermin Festival in Pamplona. You will be able to sense the magic of jubilation as you arrive at one of the world’s most unusual and thrilling religious celebration.

Pamplona that is situated in the Northern province of Navarra draw thousands of visitors to words it's self during July 6 to July 14. The visitors generally arrive in the city to watch "Encierro" or the Running of the Bulls. The history of this festival dates back to the time when bulls were used for bullfight. The bulls at that time were made to run by the drovers through streets and within the bull ring called "Plaza de Toros". The exciting event somehow became popular amongst locals who then also decided to run with the bulls. As time passed, even a braver dare of running in front of the bulls began.

The festival commemorates at 12 mid-day on the 6th of July with a firework, called the "Txupinazo". The celebration sets off Plaza Consistorian’s Town Hall. Thousands of people gather for this auspicious moment when a number of corks blow up into the air followed by the champagne getting drenched on the packed crowd. The streets get filled with cheering, singing and revelry with the whole population of the Pamplona along with the visitors. Most of the people have a red, San Fermin scarf tied around their neck with partying - continuing non-stop until the 14th July. The streets of the city buzz constantly with music, laughter and a number of organized concerts. A number of other special events also take place with the daily Bull Run during the morning and bull fights during the night being the two main highlights.

Running with bulls is not an easy task at all. A number of death case and injuries are also reported. The run is nearly a mile long and it covers a number of narrow, cobbled streets that are marked out with a sturdy and tall double-lined fence. Spectators can only stay outside the second fence for security purposes. Alternative viewing is also possible if one can hire a balcony from some local. This kind of hire starts at 4000 pesetas. However, one can find the best coverage on the TV. The Bull Run is picturised on TV every morning and can be enjoyed even more with action replay facility.
